Toni Crespo

Toni Crespo was born in Palma, the city where he lives and works. He graduated in Fine Arts and History of Art at the University of Barcelona and later obtained his doctorate at the University of the Balearic Islands. Since his beginnings he has combined painting with teaching Art History. His work has been exhibited collectively and individually in various cities both in Spain and abroad.

He is interested in informalist tendencies, in particular abstract expressionism. In his creative process he experiments with different techniques and materials, among which acrylics, graphite, sprays, collage, etc… stand out. His paintings are often inspired by his readings, so much so that in one of his last exhibitions he looked for the relationship between the language of poetry and painting, especially the Japanese haiku and its graphic representation. He is currently experimenting with new materials and continues to explore the expressive resources of the collage technique.
